Art Of Leadership

Be Great…Today!

Do you ever think to yourself, “I could be great if, or I could do this, but I need to wait until …..?”

We all go through this from time-to-time. We think we are not an expert in this area, or we have not received a degree in this, or have never been in a role with that title before, so we put off being great until tomorrow. Then before you know it, tomorrow passes you by and nothing has changed. We tend to hide behind our comfort zone like researching something forever and then never taking any action so we will not fail or be embarrassed.

You can Be Great…Today! I will explain 5 key points to master so you can start making a difference and impact today and not tomorrow.

Key Points:

  • Mindset
  • Solutions
  • Actions
  • Daily Goals
  • Impact

“Always look for solutions and move forward. Do things to make a positive impact not only on you, but also for everyone around you. Do something. Even if it is a small action; do it. You can’t fear action because inaction is an action in itself; you can’t avoid it. Instead, embrace it and make it yours.” –Brandon Brazeel

Leadership Foundations

This course introduces some foundations of leadership including: leadership styles, comparison of manager vs leader, seven necessary skills of an effective leader, employ needs and how to deliver effective feedback.

Effective Communication

Effective communication is still very important in the business world, and very important for us to succeed as employees and especially as effective leaders. What I see more and more everyday is the erosion of effective communication. With all of the texting and instant messaging that everyone participates in, a whole new language is really being created.

It becomes more and more acceptable for emails to be sent without them being proofed or reread for missing words. It becomes acceptable to add emoticons in the body of our messages to business coworkers, direct reports, superiors or even customers. But the result of this, is a loss or disconnect a lot of times in our messages. So let’s get back to the basics of effective communication.

Performance Coaching

Performance Coaching is about being proactive to help an employee maintain high performance, improve performance or correct a behavior before it gets to the formal discipline issue. By providing a more positive coaching relationship, you will enhance employee engagement, performance and overall attitudes.

You will reflect on how coachable you are to help you become a better coach. You will also be introduced to a 5-step coaching framework to help you succeed in every coaching situation.

Leadership and Employment Law

This course introduces leaders to the basics of employment law. Employment law is critical to understanding from a leadership standpoint. Everything we say and do could impact the company’s success when it comes to employment law. And a judge will tell you, “ignorance of the law is not a defense.”

Personal Leadership Development Plan

In our ever increasingly busy lives, one thing we end up not doing is focusing on ourselves. We must intentionally schedule time for us to reflect, improve, expand and grow as people and especially as leaders.

We spend a lot of time and energy creating SMART (specific, measurable, attainable/realist and timely) goals for work, but how many of us create those same type of goals for ourselves? Probably not many, but it is crucial in our leadership journey!

During this course, I will introduce and walk you through the four main steps for creating a personal leadership development plan. I will also provide you with some tools and/or resources along the way to help you.
